During the homeopathic remedy proving there was a blockage of communication with the feeling of being paralyzed, unable to act or make decisions. This created the feeling of isolation or being

cornered, of helplessness and being powerless at the mercy of something terrible.

During the time of this homeopathic remedy proving a special exhibition took place at the museum “Humanity and Nature” at the Nymphenburg Castle. It was titled: “At a premium rate - mussel/snail money and other

archaic currencies - Do you want Euros or Cowries?” (Synchronicity?)

Writing poems/reciting poems. Reciting Romantics like Novalis and Eichendorff.

Remembering fairy tales.

Hans-Christian Anderson: The little match girl; the theme: a girl falls in love with the evening star, they can’t get together; no happy-ending.

“Permanent want for similar soul vibration without many words.”

“On one hand, taking the substance intensified my perception of myself and others, on the other hand, I didn’t get anything anymore - just like in a trance.”

“On one side over-sensitivity, sensibility, tenderness, emotion, romance, love and on the other side hardness, emotional coldness, dullness, cruelty, desire to kill, persecute, rape, guilt”

“As if wrapped in cotton, stare into a void, everything is strange”

“Retreat, helplessness, indecisiveness”

“Shock, scare, panic, mortal terror with escape into another reality that is either dull or crazy or a romantic illusion like from a drug. It is as if I had died and am forced to live on even though I am dead. Great theme of guilt, thoughts of: India, gypsies, persecution, banishment, etc.”

“The remedy moves into a depth, the unconscious, generations, the cosmic, into the deepest emotional levels, into worlds that cannot be described with words. There is a feeling like being in the past century; the feeling of something very tender, beautiful, lovely, full of emotion, heights and depths, something childlike is destroyed, very violent. Death is perceived as salvation.”

“I dreamed that I got an Indian aphrodisiac as the proving substance. Love that can end with death, like in Romeo and Juliet. Tragedy and panic are the other face of the substance. Images of guilt and atonement.”

“Thoughts of death with melancholy and, then, escape into the ‘intact-world’; longing with sadness; sexuality turned into cosmic union.”

“Escape into dreams of longing, even when connected to death; longing for something out of reach, perfect - reality is too harsh.”

Ancient Egypt: the gods do not count those days in the life of a human, which were spent by collecting mussels or sea snails.  This could signify that collecting shells imparts a form of timelessness.

Shells are the treasures of the oceans.  For several reasons, they were often collected even in prehistoric times: their beautiful shapes and colors, as food, decorations, trade objects, for rituals (in African cultures) and even

as a primitive form of currency.

made the shells adapt to the constantly changing living environment.

The mussel or snail shells are the hard outer calcium (calcium carbonate) coverings, secreted by the individual mussels and snails.  These shell-forming organisms are part of the mollusks, the invertebrate.  Aristotle gave

the name mollusk. His History of Animals (332 B.C.) was considered a standard work of natural history. In this book, he was the first to give a detailed report about anatomy and living habits of many mollusks. In contrast

to other invertebrates, the mollusks have a peculiar organ, called mantle. The mantle is a flesh-like collar containong many glands, which secrete liquid calcium and color pigments. The mantle forms the hard, protective shell.

Mussels and snails live on the bottom of the ocean and can move only very slowly/their home is frequently limited to small areas/find their food by filtering the passive, microscopically tiny diatoms (algae) of the bottom of the ocean/filter and clean the surrounding water. (Arenicola marina. = Wattwurm/Helod-c. = Regenwurm find their food by filtering).

The porcelain snails extend their mantles over the shell surface and deposit additional, shiny shell matter, starting on the newest growth line. The mantle contains tactile sensory organs that react with amazing sensibility to their environment. With the help of these chemo-receptors they are able to perceive “smell and taste” in the water. The ability to distinguish a predator from a harmless animal is crucial for survival. Only at the expense of a lot of energy is the snail able to expand its shell. It has to slow down its metabolism and shift into a phase of inertia. Usually the animals bury or hide themselves.

Almost all invertebrates (squid/mussels/sea snails) are edible.

Called porcelain or cowrie snails. Have wonderful colors and smooth, shiny surface, a porcelain-like beauty/collected for centuries/live in the Indian Pacific.

Live in coral (Cor-r/Carne-g/Querc siehe carne-g)/feed on algae, sponges, etc. They usually secrete the eggs in clusters. Female sits on the spawn until the young emerge. After 1 - 2 weeks the larvae are able to swim. The animals are nocturnal, during the day they stay under the coral.

The name porcelain snail + Kauri (porcelain named after)/it was believed that the Chinese porcelain dishes were made from ground porcelain snails.

Used as money: 1100 B.C. a slave costs 1 Cowrie in China (a vassal family was 10 Cowries)

950 B.C. the commander of a legion in China gets 100 Cowries to suppress a rebellion

1600 in Uganda, East Africa, a wife costs 2 Cowries

1800 in Hawaii almost any item can be obtained with a string of Cowries

1810 in Uganda, East Africa, a wife costs 30, a cow 10 Cowries

1857 in Uganda a wife costs 10,000, a slave 2,500, a goat 500 and a rooster 25 Cowries

1878 at the slave market of Ghana, West Africa, a slave costs 80,000

1892 a ton of Cowries costs 513 Francs in France; in Mali, West Africa, a Franc is worth 500 Kauris

Used in jewelry making, carrying symbolic meanings. First they were pierced or polished and then stringed or pinned on. Small porcelain snails were used for cameo carvings on small rings. Decoration on tools/drums/hoods/dance masks/clothing/armors/parade harnesses of horses.

Uses: gambling/settle disputes/transmit messages/tools to smooth papyrus or laundry.

In many regions the shells were used for jewelry.

Snail and Mussel shells became important symbols in religious rituals. In mythology they were part of superstitious conceptions. Most likely, they were considered as gifts from the ocean that are equipped with supernatural powers. They were also considered to have magical powers. This added a spiritual dimension. Shamans and sorcerers used them in rituals, in order to bring rain, heal diseases, ask for fertility and abundant harvest, or to curse enemies.

The Cowrie is a particularly well-known example of a shell that was given symbolic meaning in various cults and creeds because of its shape. The small opening on the underside of the Cowrie snail is suggestive of the female genital/considered the symbol of female fertility. As the benefactor of life it was attributed with magical powers.

Tibet: used in the treatment of benign or malignant tumors of any kind.

Japan: could ease delivery.

Maori women: headbands made of Cowries before giving birth to their first child.

Even today, in the South of Italy, some girls wear necklaces made of Cowries as amulets against infertility and venereal diseases. The Romans called this snail Concha veneris.

China: a guarantee for the continuation of life and good food for the dead in the hereafter (put in the mouth behind the last molars)

Zaire: symbol for royal status.

Salomon islands: attached to the bow of war canoes in order to give them power and protection through their magic.

Egypt: symbol of fertility as well/protection against the evil eye, because the slit-like opening was seen as a half-opened eye, surrounded by eyelashes.

Cheyenne/Sioux used Cowries on clothing for certain ceremonies.
