2.5.1.2 Typhoid miasmThe
typhoid miasm is characterized by “Critical”. This miasm defines a critical scenario which must be handled
carefully so that the outcome may
be full recovery. The reaction is struggle
against the critical situation. Key words: crisis, intense, typhoid, emergency,
homesick, sub-acute, collapse, impatience, critical

Few of us have suffered from typhoid unless we
happened to travel to Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, or Latin America. In fact,
I remember it being one of the few travel vaccinations that we received prior
to travel to the Amazon.
Typhoid is characterized by a high fever along
with being bedridden from violent diarrhea. The
situation is not as immediately life-threatening as the acute miasm, yet the situation is still urgent and death, though
not imminent, is certainly possible.
The feeling of the individual is: I will do
anything to get through this crisis and, once I do, I can rest. Pathologies belonging to the typhoid miasm are colitis, Crohn’s
disease, and states of collapse.
I will do whatever is needed to get through the
crisis. Then I can rest.”
Health Care Workers During the Pandemic and in
War-Torn Settings– Think of the ER
and ICU workers at the height of the Covid pandemic.
The photos we all saw of beyond-exhausted medical care teams catching some
sleep on a bench, on the floor. Bruised faces from hours after hour of masking
and protective gear. The medical personnel who faced screaming by family
members who were not satisfied with their care.
Postal Service Workers– One of my long-time
patients has worked for USPS for nearly forty years. Previously, she loved her
job. It involved lots of walking, she finished by 15 h. each day, and she
counted her blessings to be paid well and have a secure retirement.
Then came Amazon deliveries through the postal
service. Now, at 3PM, having delivered all the mail in her truck, she had to
deliver another truckload of Amazon packages, and worked feverishly until 7PM.
She was the fourth postal employee in her post office to turn in her
resignation over a short period of time.
The postal clerk, beside herself, could only
reply, “Oh, no, not you, too!” Pushing, pushing, pushing, in hopes of a rest that
doesn’t come. We live in town of 1000 residents on Whidbey Island, and the same
is true. The beleaguered postal workers are there seven days a week, rain or
shine, on the verge of exhaustion, hold back tears or rage.
Other Service Workers– Our community is very
eco, treasuring its recycling centers. Having
returned recently from six months in Chile, where recycling is hit and miss, to
say the least, I was quite happy to be back to a place where folks eagerly line
up to dump their recyclables.
I happened to ask the attendant what it had
been like for her during the height of the pandemic. She looked as if she would
break into tears and shared how
she had been spat on, sworn at, and sprayed
with vinegar by locals who were terrified that they might catch the virus from
her. She was still hanging in there, out of desperation no doubt.

Sudden, intense, which makes perfect sense when reflecting upon
Ipecac’s complete dissatisfaction with everything and tendency to ruckus. In
this miasm we see general
ideas of urgency, impatience, demanding behavior, risk-taking, and a
desire to have it all now, countered by collapsing will power and failed
action.

As seen in the miasm,
this proving revealed a critical nature of reacting as well as a critical
environment to the person.
The person reacts as if in an intense struggle.
The person struggles with development of the self, raising issues of the
self-esteem, as well as issues of
development with others. Every facet of their
lives presents with an acute crisis whether it be professional or private with
examples in the proving of
crises related to love lives and exams.
Reacting with intense emotion be it sadness and
crying or the opposite, namely, elation and euphoria.
We see a concentrated effort and struggle where
there is a desire for physical activity, and occupation and > physical
activity.
Homesickness is clear and evident among several
provers who desire to be home and with family.
Numerous provers experience exhaustion and
prostration
and a drop, in energy levels.
The attitude is childlike, getting easily upset
and outbursts of anger and violence.

Einschätzung der Situation und der nötigen Reaktion
Das Miasma liegt zwischen akut (Bedrohung & Panik)
und psorisch (intensive Bemühung und Optimismus).Die
Situation ist kritisch und lebensbedrohlich. Wenn diese kritische Phase gut
bewältigt wird, endet sie mit einer völligen Genesung. Die Situation beinhaltet
ein Risiko. Man will schnelle Ergebnisse, man will es schnell hinter sich
bringen.
Es besteht große Ungeduld. Es werden dringliche Ansprüche
gestellt. (demanding) Man ist nicht allein
verantwortlich. Der Anspruch an die eigene Kompetenz und ihr Einschätzung ist
nicht sehr hoch. Es besteht eine gewisse Hilflosigkeit, welche durch die Hilfe
anderer kompensiert werden kann. Deswegen fühlt sich der Arzt (als Helfer
in der Not) stark bedrängt.
Die Haltung ist etwas unreif - kindlich.
"Ich kann diese Notsituation nicht alleine
bewältigen. Wenn du oder ihr nicht helft, geht es den Bach runter". Es ist
eine Herausforderung, bei der eine gute Chance besteht, das Ziel zu erreichen.
Ziele sind kurzfristiger Natur - Solange sie noch nicht erreicht werden, besteht
eine ungeheure Aktivität und Rastlosigkeit. Danach kommt der Wunsch nach Ruhe
und Erholung. Nach einer anhaltenden Bemühung kommt dann die tiefe Erschöpfung.

Daher ist Heimweh ein typhöses
Symptom. (Nux-m. Bry.
Ph-ac....?). Wenn
man zuhause ist, ist alles OK.
Version der Bewältigung
Sofortiges Handeln ist notwenig sonst droht Untergang und
Tod. "Nimm, was du kriegen kannst, und zwar sofort." Verlangen
wiederzuerlangen, was verloren war.
Man muss die Chance nutzen, verlorenen Boden
zurückzugewinnen. In kurzer Zeitspanne muss eine ungeheure Anstrengung
vollbracht werden, um wieder eine Position
des Wohlergehens und der Sicherheit zu erlangen.
Version des Versagens
Kollaps, Inaktivität; man hat den Kampf aufgegeben;
Herabsinken; keine Anstrengung; keine Willensanstrengung mehr. Symptome des dekompensierten Zustandes (Unfähigkeit, mit dem Problem
fertig zu werden):
Abneigung zu sprechen; Abneigung. zu denken; Abneigung
sich mit geschäftlichen Angelegenheiten zu beschäftigen.
Wo findet man die Typhus- Haltung physiologischerweise?
Dieses Miasma entspricht dem Kindheitsalter (1-12 J.)
Interessanterweise findet sich bei allen Typhus-Mittel
das Symptom "Wahnidee, das Bett versinke".
Dies illustriert gut das Gefühl, dass eine Wohlfühlposition
droht, verloren zu gehen und nun Krisenintervention ansteht. Das gleiche gilt,
wenn z.B. das eigene Haus in Flammen steht.
Der sichere Ort droht, zerstört zu werden.
Hinausschieben und tolerieren ist jetzt nicht angezeigt,
sondern beherztes
Eingreifen. Man muss alle, auch andere Menschen
mobilisieren, um es retten zu können. Ein anderes Beispiel wäre ein
geschäftlicher Einbruch, ein massiver finanzieller
Verlust dadurch dass z.B. der Aktienmarkt zusammenbricht.
Es bedarf dann einer längeren konzentrierten Anstrengung bis zur Erholung.
Die Haltung ist von Ungeduld geprägt. Der Patient hat für
kurze Zeit den Boden unter den Füßen verloren, er ist ungeduldig, fordernd und
bereit zum Wettkampf.
Wenn Kinder älter werden, beginnt der Wettbewerb und eine
fordernde Haltung stellt sich ein. Wünsche müssen sofort erfüllt werden.
Objekte des Verlangens werden
sofort genommen und eingesteckt. (grabbing)

Jeder Mensch hat eine bestimmten Haltung oder
Einschätzung seiner Krankheit. Diese wird meist das Miasma indizieren. Oft kann
man das schon vor der Mittelfindung erkennen. z.B. "Herr Doktor! Ich
brauche Hilfe - und zwar sofort!" das ist Typhus-Miasma.
oder: "Ich fühle mich nicht all zu gut, aber ich
kann es aushalten. Ich kann nicht viel dagegen tun, aber ich dachte, ich Frage
Sie mal um Rat." das ist Sykose-Miasma
Typhus
ist eine schwere meldepflichtige Allgemeinerkrankung (Entwicklungsländern)/=
Infektion mit Salmonella typhi
(übertragen mit Trinkwasser/kontaminierte Nahrungsmittel). Der Namen
Typhusmiasma: main feeling of a critical situation,
which properly handled will end in a total recovery.
Der
ungelöste Aspekt ist ein krisenhaftes Ringen/brauchen Regeln und Vorgaben.
Meist arbeiten diese Menschen viel/überfordern sich leicht. Oft halten sie
peinlich genau Ordnung. Unhervorgesehene Ereignisse können rasch aus seinem
Rhythmus werfen/versucht Ereignisse zu ignorieren/macht weiter, als ob nichts
geschehen wäre. Die Neigung zu großer Ängstlichkeit vor zukünftigen Übeln ist
vorhanden (# Phasen der Entspannung).
Bestrebt
innerlich wie äußerlich jegliche Unsicherheit auszuschalten/kennzeichnet oft
die Lebenshaltung und die daraus resultierende Problematik. Sind ernst,
verbissen, zwanghaft, diktatorisch, oft herrscht eine überkritische Haltung
gegenüber anderen.
Der
erlöste Aspekt bringt die Fähigkeit zum Krisenmanagement, mit anderen Menschen
agieren und sich doch abgrenzen. Der Zen-Mönch, der zwar nach strengen Regeln
lebt, doch dabei in die Liebe geht und Gelassenheit erlebt. Über die eigenen
Sorgen lachen, weil man doch die relative Unwichtigkeit erkennt. Echte innere
Fröhlichkeit, ausgeglichen, urteilsfähig, objektiv, Problem den richtigen
Stellenwert geben. Fähigkeit, auch Kleinigkeiten bewusst wahrzunehmen und
Unvollkommenheit zu akzeptieren.
Dinge
tun aus Spaß an der Freude und nicht nur, weil man es tun muss. Dem als richtig
Erkannten folgen mit gutem Gewissen, befreit von Angst vor Strafe das Recht
vertreten, nicht nur das Gesetz.

capacity to survive“). P. willing to use any means to return to a secure
position (Violence/scheming/flight/lying). Willful children
who demand their desires so strongly that parents cave in often, require
remedies from this group. The patient’s goal is to conserve every resource to
combat the threat. Thus materialism and business struggles are a strong
component.
The feeling is, “If
I can just get through this crisis, I have it made and I can rest.” He seeks
rest and a secure position.

This is the subacute miasm that is found in
between the Acute and Psoric miasms.
Typhoid has a prolonged feeling of malaise days before the temperature rises
significantly. The fever is continuous,
rises each day and
can become quite life threatening. Typhoid has both acute features and a degree
of slowness associated with it. The feeling of a patient in this miasmatic stage is that of a
critical situation,
which if properly handled will end in total recovery.
The remedy falls into the typhoid miasm. The basic feeling here is that they are at risk of
losing their position of comfort, be it their home, job security or their
health. With the current economic situation where people are indeed losing
their jobs and homes, I am observing that this and the other typhoid miasm remedies are called for quite often;
