Warmen Fencheltee mit Honig. Honig ist sehr wirksam bei Husten, auch da gibt es Studien und Meta-Analysen. Allerdings sollten Kleinkinder älter als ein Jahr alt sein, wegen der potentiellen, aber sehr seltenen Gefahr eines  Säuglingsbotulismus, ausgelöst durch das Bakterium Clostridium botulinum. Efeu- und Thymianpräparate sind ebenfalls nachweislich wirksam, weil schleimlösend. Gibt es als Tabletten in der Apotheke. Oder man kocht sich Thymiantee. Generell helfen natürlich Erkältungstees, mindestens zwei Liter am Tag. Heiße Zitrone ist auch gut. Außerdem die Brust einreiben mit Eukalyptusöl, das öffnet die verstopfte Nase gleich mit. Eine nachweislich sehr große Rolle bei allen Erkältungskrankheiten spielt aber Stress.

 

Die häufigsten Erkältungsviren

Rhinoviren sind die häufigsten Auslöser eines Schnupfens, mehr als hundert verschiedene sind bekannt. Sie gelangen beim Niesen und Husten, in kleinste Tröpfchen verpackt, in die Luft und werden eingeatmet. Etwa eine Woche dauert die unangenehme, aber harmlose Infektion. Ein Mittel gegen die Viren gibt es nicht. Nur wenn sich Bakterien zu den Viren gesellen, sollen Antibiotika zum

Einsatz kommen

Pandemie: Plötzlich sind alle krank

Wenn eine Infektionskrankheit sich über Länder und Kontinente hinweg ausbreitet, spricht man von einer Pandemie. Im 20. Jahrhundert gab es drei Grippe-Pandemien, die schwerste war die Spanische Grippe von 1918. Sie kostete bis zu 50 Millionen Menschen das Leben. Voraussetzung für eine Pandemie ist, dass ein neues Virus entsteht, gegen das in der Bevölkerung noch keine Immunität besteht.

Die Tücke der Grippeviren

Wie andere Viren verändern sich auch Grippeviren ständig. Das liegt in der Natur der Sache – vor allem wenn ein Organismus sich vermehrt, kommt es zu Mutationen im Erbgut. Bei Grippeviren ist die Wirkung dieses Mechanismus jedoch besonders ausgeprägt, weil sie mit mehr Mutationen zurechtkommen und daher mehr Subtypen überleben und sich verbreiten können. Hinzu kommt die Kombination der Viren untereinander: Wenn zwei verschiedene Viren einen Menschen gleichzeitig befallen und ihr Erbgut untereinander austauschen, entsteht ein neuer Mischtyp, der Bestandteile beider Ursprungsviren enthält. Auf diese Weise entstand auch der Erreger der sogenannten Schweinegrippe. Das alles lässt sich kaum vorhersagen – und dementsprechend schlecht kann man sich davor schützen.

Die richtigen Gegenmittel

Antibiotika? Nein. Die helfen nicht, sie wirken nämlich nicht gegen Viren, sondern gegen Bakterien. Was immer hilft: viel trinken (Wasser, Brühe, heiße Milch mit Honig).

Die verstopfte Nase freut sich über ätherische Öle, Spülungen mit Salzwasser oder das Inhalieren über Wasserdampf. Vorsicht bei abschwellendem Nasenspray: Da besteht bei längerer Anwendung die Gefahr, dass die Nasenschleimhäute geschädigt werden – oder dass man gar abhängig wird.

Kühle und nasse Tage sind nun wieder unsere ständigen Begleiter und die ersten Erkältungen sind auch nicht mehr fern. Doch kann man dem Wetter nicht alle Übel zuschreiben, denn Schlafmangel scheint die größte Ursache für die Entstehung von Erkältungen zu sein. Eine neue Studie der Universität von Kalifornien San Francisco unterstützt die elterlichen Ermahnungen, die seit Jahrhunderten Kindern vorgebetet werden: Um nicht krank zu werden, muss man genügend schlafen.

Erkältungsviren per Nasentropfen

Die amerikanischen Wissenschaftler gingen der Frage nach, ob man bei wenig Schlaf empfänglicher für Erkältungsviren wird. Sie untersuchten dafür 94 gesunde Männer und 70 gesunde Frauen im Alter zwischen 18 und 55 Jahren. Mit Hilfe einer Smartwatch, die Schlafparameter registriert, stellten die Wissenschaftler unter anderem fest, wie lange die Testpersonen schliefen und wie oft sie während der Nacht aufwachten. Die Testpersonen notierten, wie spät sie ins Bett gingen, wann sie aufstanden und wie sie geschlafen hatten. Die Aufzeichnungen führten sie eine Woche lang durch.

Nach dieser Woche erhielten die Teilnehmer mittels Nasentropfen Erkältungsviren. Anschließend wurde verfolgt, wer eine Erkältung entwickelte und wer nicht. Das wurde anhand von Antikörpern im Blut, der Anzahl verbrauchter Taschentücher und die Zeit, in welcher der verabreichte Farbstoff wieder aus der Nase verschwand, untersucht.

Schlafdauer wichtigster Faktor

Die Teilnehmer, die weniger als sechs Stunden pro Nacht schliefen, hatten ein viermal so hohes Risiko für eine Erkältung wie die Teilnehmer, die mehr als sieben Stunden schliefen. Dabei legten die Forscher die Schlafdauer der Smartwatch zugrunde. Das stimmte nicht unbedingt mit der Schlafdauer überein, die die Teilnehmer selbst angegeben hatten, aber die Unterschiede hatten keinen Einfluss auf das Ergebnis. Auch häufiges Aufwachen in der Nacht beeinflusste das Krankheitsrisiko nicht zusätzlich.

»Wenig Schlaf war wichtiger als jeder andere Faktor, um das Krankheitsrisiko vorherzusagen«, erklärt Studienleiter Dr. Aric A. Prather. »Es spielte keine Rolle, wie alt die Personen waren, wie viel Stress sie hatten, welcher ethnischen Gruppe sie angehörten, welche Ausbildung sie absolviert hatten und wie hoch ihr Einkommen war. Es war sogar unerheblich, ob sie Raucher waren.«

Schlafmangel erhöht Infektanfälligkeit

Das Experiment zeigt einen deutlichen Zusammenhang zwischen Schlafmangel und einem höheren Infektionsrisiko für Erkältungsviren. Ein eindeutiger Beweis, dass Schlafmangel die direkte Ursache ist, konnte aus den Ergebnissen nicht hergeleitet werden. Zudem ging es um eine kleine Studie und dadurch kann die bemerkenswerte Risikosteigerung größer sein, als es tatsächlich der Fall ist. Was die Studie dennoch wieder einmal deutlich macht ist, dass Schlaf äußerst wichtig für unsere Gesundheit

ist. Schlafmangel macht uns empfänglicher für Erkältungen; das wurde auch schon in früheren Studien gezeigt, wenn auch nicht auf eine solch objektive Weise wie bei

dieser Untersuchung.

Schlafmangel: die neue Volksepidemie

Schlafmediziner nennen Schlafmangel bereits eine »Volksepidemie«, die zu Unfällen im Verkehr und am Arbeitsplatz führt und medizinische Fehler nach sich zieht. Schlafstörungen und Schlafmangel sind als Ursache bekannt für chronische Erkrankungen wie Diabetes, Herz-Kreislauf-Krankheiten und sogar vorzeitigem Tod.

Dr. Prather konnte auch in früheren Studien feststellen, dass Menschen, die wenig schlafen, nach einer Impfung weniger gut geschützt sind, denn Schlaf beeinflusst die

Menge der T-Zellen im Blut, die einen wichtigen Teil des Immunsystems darstellen.

Ausreichend Schlaf genügt natürlich nicht, um Erkältungen vorzubeugen. Wichtig ist vor allem, regelmäßig seine Hände zu waschen, um die Viren abzutöten und nicht weiter zu verbreiten.

Sechs Lebensmittel für besseren Schlaf

Wenn Sie Schlafprobleme haben, liegt die Lösung vielleicht in Ihrer Küche! Denn Tryptophan, Magnesium und Serotonin sind unverzichtbar für die Entspannung und eine angenehme Nachtruhe.

Folgende Nahrungsmittel können dabei helfen:

Tipp 1: Vielleicht wissen Sie, dass Putenfleisch viel Tryptophan enthält; eine Aminosäure, die Ihren Körper zur Produktion von Serotonin anregt, wodurch Sie entspannen und leichter einschlafen. Aber wussten Sie auch, dass Mozzarella fast doppelt so viel Tryptophan enthält?

Tipp 2: Lachs

Wissenschaftler haben festgestellt, dass Menschen durch 600 Milligramm Omega-3-Fettsäuren eine Stunde länger schlafen und siebenmal seltener nachts aufwachen.

Essen Sie mal öfter Lachs zum Abendessen oder falls Sie keinen Fisch mögen, versuchen Sie es mit einem Nahrungsergänzungsmittel.

Tipp 3: Mandeln

Eine Handvoll Mandeln liefert dem Körper fast 20% des täglichen Magnesiumbedarfs. Wer keine Mandeln mag, kann auch ein (Fuß-)Bad mit Bittersalz nehmen. Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass auf diese Weise auch der Magnesiumspiegel im Körper erhöht wird. Ausreichend Magnesium entspannt die Muskeln und wirkt beruhigend. So bleiben die Gedanken nicht im Kopf kreisen, wenn Sie sich schlafen legen. Mandeln sind auch ein gute Quelle für Tryptophan und sie senken den Blutzuckerspiegel und können den Bauchumfang reduzieren.

Tipp 4: Haferflocken

Kirschen und Kirschsaft sind ein prima Lieferant für das Schlaf fördernde Hormon Melatonin, sondern auch Haferflocken. Sie sind reich an Kohlenhydraten, die Ihnen ein schläfriges Gefühl geben.

Tipp 5: Jasmin-Reis

Der ursprünglich thailändische Reis hat einen nussigen, sanften Geschmack und einen hohen glykämischen Index (GI), der angibt, wie stark der Blutzucker nach dem Verzehr eines kohlenhydratreichen Nahrungsmittels ansteigt. Und obwohl wir meist Nahrungsmittel mit einem hohen GI vermeiden wollen, wirkt sich das doch wieder positiv auf das Einschlafen aus. Durch den hohen glykämischen Index steigt der Blutzuckerspiegel nach dem Essen von Jasmin-Reis schnell an. Der hohe GI sorgt für einen Tryptophan- und Serotonin-Kick, der Sie schläfrig und müde macht.

Tipp 6: Bananen

Diese stärkehaltige Frucht enthält reichlich Magnesium und auch Kalium. Beides wirkt Muskel entspannend. Und genau wie Mozzarella und Mandeln liefern Bananen ausreichend Tryptophan. Kleiner Pluspunkt: Die krummen gelben Früchte stillen den Heißhunger auf etwas Süßes, den viele von uns vor dem Schlafengehen überfällt.

I have got a Cold – probably from returning from hot steamy Singapore back to cold, miserable Southport. My first line of defence: Vit C, about 3000mg throughout the day (some take 6000!!),

Echinacea and Zinc-met. My colds rarely last more than 2 days. I don’t like to suppress a cold as I feel it is the body’s way of letting the built-up toxins get out naturally. Acon.: sudden onset of symptom (after exposure to very cold, dry windy weather).

Ars.: the onset of illness in the middle of the night (between 1- 2 h.). May wake with chills, diarrhoea or vomiting at this time. She is often anxious, may fear that he/she is seriously ill and demands company. She is chilly and wants hot water. Very restless. Ssneezing with irritating discharge, watery coryza with weakness. Nostrils

“As if obstructed” with fluent discharge.

Bell.: Hot and feverish with a red colour to the face. Pulsating headache.

Cocc-c.: Mucous membranes of throat, respiratory tract and urinary organs are mostly affected/a catarrhal condition and irritation in these sites. Well indicated in violent

            paroxysmal cough ending in vomiting or raising much clear ropy mucus.

Nux-v.: It doesn’t matter how many blankets you’ve got around you, you still feel shivery when you move . This remedy warms you up in about in about 10 minutes!!

Phos.: Can quickly go to the chest. Strong desire for large quantities of cold or iced drinks, and the person wants company.

Some Constitutional Remedies for Susceptibility to Colds

Alum.: particular efficacy in case of old people who take cold from the least exposure to a draft of cold air. Such patients are frequently afflicted with obstinate constipation.

Calc.: leucophlegmatic temperament, who are liable to take cold at every change of weather. Teething children, who are subject to colds in the head, attended by oppressed breathing. Infants who do not assimilate their food well, and have swelling of the glands of the neck; adults who suffer much from cold, damp feet.

Nux-v.: Extreme susceptibility to cold in persons who are subject to frontal headaches and attacks of vertigo, occasioned by deranged stomach. Catarrhal attacks fluent during the day and dry at night; symptoms < in the morning, and constipation. Always useful where the patient has taken freely of so-called tonics, or has employed drastic medicines.

Puls.: Mild disposition and phlegmatic constitution. Catarrhal attacks attended with pronounced derangement of the digestive functions; eyes and ears are prominently affected.

Sulph.: Unhealthy condition of the skin, shown by roughness, cracking or a scaling of the cuticle, chilblains, nettle-rash, etc.; often, in cases where Sulphur will prove of service, there is an herpetic saddle across the nose, or the patient complains of a congested condition of the nose, with a tendency to bleed.

All-c.: > open air. Quickly stops the acrid nasal catarrh and frequently seems to drive the trouble to the chest. Phos. stops this action.

   Nasal discharge: thick and purulent, sometimes tinged with blood.

   Offensive discharge; nose swollen and red; scabs in nose; eyes inflamed, lids red, excoriated and burning, „As if raw“.

   Violent pain in bony parts of nose: < /before/in rain (Lem-m.).

   Scurfy formation of r. half of nose, ext. lip, with deep, sore, sensitive fissure.

   In stuffy colds, when nose gets blocked and feels relieved of the suffering if secretion

Influenzinum: Dr. Quinton: (with Bac. added) for people who were susceptible to colds, given once a fortnight and gradually spacing it out to 3 weeks or a month.

One could minimise the frequency and the severity of colds if patients had this treatment throughout the winter months, beginning autumn and going through to April.

Kali-bi.

   Fetid smell from nose.

   Nose painfully dry; air passes with great ease through it.

   Feels swollen inside, stiff, velvety.

   Nose feels too heavy. As if a heavy weight were hanging from it. Burning, throbbing inside root of nose.

   Discharge from nose, throat, trachea, bronchi, bladder is thick, yellow, ropy, and sticky, like glue; draws out in strings and ropes; tough, jelly-like, and when

   it settles down it forms hard masses.

   Kent: nose stopped up: watery discharge at first with much sneezing, then a thick, yellow discharge. Blows out bloody, mattery crusts. Crusts, tinged with blood.

   Plugs: "clinkers". Discharge of tough, green masses, or hard plugs.

   Round ulcer, or scabs on septum. Small, perforating ulcer on septum.

   Plugs if left, easily detached. If pulled away leave soreness at root of nose.

   Violent pain from occiput to forehead if discharge ceases. (Luffa?)

   Entire cartilaginous septum destroyed and mucous membrane in a state of purulent inflammation; disease mistaken for syphilis.

   Septum completely ulcerated away (Hipp.).

   Malignant ulceration of nose.

   Ulceration frontal sinuses with violent headache at root nose and in sinuses if discharge stops.

   Nasal polypi; recent or long-standing.

Kali-m.: coryza/tonsillitis. Any problem of tonsils or throat beginning with coryza, < morning, obstruction of nose < night, tongue coated white posterior part.

Lem-m.

   A very definite affinity for nose.

   Helps in nasal obstruction and catarrh, with or without polypi.

   Polypi swell in wet weather.

   Foul smell from nose; foul taste on waking.

   < damp weather and heavy rains.

   Post-nasal ulceration high up. Chronic pharyngitis.

   Turbinates swollen: crusts.

   Atrophic rhinitis: crusts; muco-purulent discharge. Even cases of ozaena.

   One of Dr. Coopers medicines: he gave unit doses of the mother tincture; only repeated at need.

Luf-op.

Merc.: thin watery discharge, droping from the tip of the nose with much sneezing, <: night/dampweather;

Nat-m. commencing with sneezing, followed by loss of taste and smell. Discharge thin and watery like white of egg.

Nit-ac.

   Ulceration: of nostrils, scurfy: of inner nose: bloody matter blown from nose.

   Hard plugs, hard to detach, leave a sore.

   Green casts every morning; with ulcers: involve upper lip which is swollen and honeycombed with ulcers. Offensive yellow mucus and pus: frequent epistaxis.

   Violent itching, burning, soreness, bleeding, scabbiness: stitches.

   Stitches as from a splinter on touch: stitches in root, especially on sneezing and coughing.

Nux-v.: coryza with blocked nose (at night), with chilliness. Running all day and dry at night.

Phos.

   Inveterate nasal catarrh.

   Painful dryness of nose (Stict./Kali-c.)

   Constant sneezing and bloody water running from nose.

   Nostrils filled with green mucus, blood-streaked. Bad odour from nose.

   Has cured nasal polypi (bleeding).

   Tip of nose red and shining.

   Characteristic: slender, delicate type; may crave salt, ices: thirst for large cold drinks.

   Fear: alone, dark, thunder.

Phyt.

   Drawing sensation, root of nose.

   As if tickled in nostril by a feather.

   "The most distressing, lingering, inveterate old catarrhs with destruction of bones of the nose." Total obstruction of nose.

   Syphilitic ozaena, with bloody, sanious discharge and disease of bones.

   Noli me tangere and cancerous affections of nose.

Puls.

“Ripe cold” in which the discharges are green and bland, not in the least excoriating; bad smell in the nose, as of old catarrh. Given in the beginning usually spoils the case,

for sneezing and excoriating discharges are not its characteristics.

Sep.

   Blowing of large lumps of yellow-green mucus, or crusts, with blood, from nose.

   Dry coryza; nostrils sore, swollen, ulcerated and scabby: discharging large green plugs.

   Large, offensive-smelling plugs from nose, often so large they had to be drawn back into mouth and expectorated, causing vomiting. Ozaena.

   Characteristics: Yellow saddle across bridge of nose. Great sensitiveness to odours; the smell of cooking nauseates.

Sil.

   Gnawing and ulcers high up in nose, with great sensitiveness of place to contact.

   Ozaena with fetid, offensive discharge, when disease is seated in sub-mucous connective tissue or in periosteum.

   Intolerable itching tip of nose.

   Caries of nasal bones from syphilis or scrofulosis.

   "The most inveterate cases of nasal catarrh.

   "Caries of bone in any part of body (small bones of ear, nose, and mastoid)".

   "Accumulation of hard crusts in nose, loss of taste and smell; epistaxis and thickening of mucous membrane; most vicious catarrh with discharge of bone from nose.

   "Horrible fetid ozaena; old syphilitic cases where the nasal bones are destroyed and the nose becomes a flabby bag, is sunken in or ulcerated away, leaving an

   opening. Silica may cure, and an artificial nose be made afterwards." KENT.

   Silica is slow-long-deep-acting.

   Has a great reputation for extrusion of foreign bodies, necrosed tissues, and healing of sinuses.

   Silica is chilly; lacks "grit"; keenly sensitive; sweats profusely; feet (offensive); head, at night.

Stict.

   Constant need to blow nose: but no discharge because of dryness (Phos./Lem-m./Kali-bi.).

   Nose is stuffed up; secretions drying up so rapidly that it cannot be discharged.

   Obstruction of nose: interferes with breathing and changes voice.

   Wants to put finger in nose to clear out gluish secretion.

Sulph.

   Troublesome catarrhal affection of nose.

   Smell before nose as of an old catarrh: odours make him sick.

   Smells his catarrh and thinks others smell it.

   Smell of this or of filthy things, nauseates.

   Fluent coryza like water trickling from nose: all nasal discharges acrid and burning.

   "Dirty-nosed children", with sore, running noses. (Aur-met.).

   Children are shock-headed (with bushy or tousled hair): hungry; kick off the clothes at night.

Thuj.

   Blows out much thick green mucus mixed with blood and pus; later, brown scabs form.

   Nose sore: red eruption on alae, often moist.

   Painful scabs in nostrils.

   Chronic catarrh after measles, scarlatina, variola.

   Especially after vaccinations and vaccines.

Hippoz. (Glanders).

   Diffuse redness of nose, spreads over forehead and face. Erysipelatous.

   Gangrenous erysipelas externally, with discharge of pus and viscid mucus.

   Nasal secretions of foul appearance. Often one-sided, albuminous, tough, viscid, grey, greenish, even bloody and offensive; acrid corroding.

   Little yellow pustules on nose.

   Deep ulcers, edges elevated viscous secretion. In groups running together. No scurfs

   Chronic ozaena. Malignant ozaena.

   Pustules and ulcers in nose, end in erosion and perforation of septum.

   Gangrene of swollen root of nose.

   Cartilages exposed and necrosed, septum, vomer and palate bone disorganized.

   "Checks liability to nasal catarrh".

Aur-met.

   Excessively fetid discharge from nose.

   Scrofulous and syphilitic affection of bones of nose and face.

   Caries of bones of nose and palate.

   Putrid smell when blowing nose.

   Sensitive smell: everything smells too strong; or, Want of smell.

   Boring pain in bones of nose.

   Nasal catarrh with melancholy, even suicidal.

   Ulcerated, agglutinated, painful nostrils; cannot breathe through nose. Crusts in nose

   Nose feels obstructed, as in dry coryza, yet air passes through freely (Kali-bi.).

   Ozaena; excessively fetid discharge; severe frontal headache.

   Burning, itching, stitching, smarting, soreness in nose, especially when touched.

   Brown-red spots on nose. Nostrils chapped.

   Yellow, thick discharge from nose; or dry, firm pieces are blown out, always of offensive odour.

   Nose red, swollen. Tip, red and "knobby".

   Cancer of nose.

   Typical Aurum has the most extreme depression (suicide).

Merc.

   Nasal bones swollen. Greenish, fetid pus from nose.

   Acrid matter flows from nose.

   Old syphilitics with nasal bones affected.

   Thick, greenish, yellow, acrid, stinking discharge.

   Offensive secretions; saliva, sweat, etc. Typical Merc. tongue is large, coated, tooth-notched.

   Pains < at night.

Syph.

   Ozaena; offensive yellow-green discharges.

   Sores itch and scab.

   Itching in nostrils.

   Characteristics: < darkness to day light.

   All symptoms < night.

   Dread of night; fears the terrible suffering from exhaustion on waking.

Still.

   Catarrhal discharge from nose, watery, then muco-purulent, with soreness of mucous membrane; then small abscesses inside (right) nostril.

   Inflammation and necrosis of bones of nose.

   Stillingia attacks periosteum and produces pain in bones.

   Has arrested caries of nasal bone.

   "A popular remedy for syphilis in the Southern States, U.S.A."

   "Extreme torture from bone pains and periosteal affections (tibia)" (Asaf.). NASH.

Asaf.

   Offensive discharge" stench from nose.

   Tension and numbness, bones of nose.

   „As if nose would burst“.

   It feels stopped high up, cannot breathe through it (riding in carriage).

   Discharge of very offensive matter, with caries. (Comp. Hippozaen).

   Suits stout persons, intolerably hypersensitive (Hepar, etc.) and nervous.

   Characteristic: explosive or rancid belchings. Puffed, venous, purple face.

Aesc-h. a second Ars. in coryza. "I have used Aesculus with very good results in coryza and sore throat. The coryza is very like the Arsenic coryza, thin, watery and burning; but what characterizes

Sensation of rawness; sensitive to inhaled cold air. In the throat it has the same sensation of rawness, both in the acute form and in chronic follicular pharyngitis, for which it is often a good remedy."

Allergic Vasomotor Rhinitis

Ambrosia.: Complaints of itching of the lids; coryza with lachrymation; hot excoriating watery discharge. The person is extremely allergic to dust, hay, pollen, flowers and house dust. The nasal symptoms gradually descends downwards producing irritation in the trachea followed by asthmatic breath ing and wheezy cough; < night.

Corallium rubrum.: Nasal catarrh but scanty discharge but excessive postnasal drip; the nasal cavity is full of thick crusts and scabs. The person constantly hawks a thick layer of mucus. Epistaxis is more from the left nostril in the night; wing of the nose is tender to touch. Patient has asthmatic, barking, croupy dry cough that comes in paroxysms of short bouts producing excessive gasping of breath.

The coughing bouts are quite tormenting to the patient.

Zwei Mitteln ragen hervor: Camph. und Acon.

Acon.: Folgen eines Kälteeinflusses. Von dem Moment an, an dem die Erkältung bemerkt wird, alle 15 Minuten eingenommen wird, während 5 - 6 Stunden, bis eine Reaktion eintritt. Wenn Acon. Schweiß

verursacht, sollte man aufpassen, dass keine neue Erkältung hervorgerufen wird.

Bell.: Hot and feverish with a red colour to the face. Pulsating headache.

Camph.: Frost ist ausgeprägter. Wenn die Erkältung zugezogen wird.

Die Mehrzahl der Erkältungen kann durch diese beiden Mittel abgekürzt werden.

Wenn eine Erkältung länger als zwei Tage dauert, sollte an Gels., Merc., Ars., Nux-v., Puls., Sang., All-c. Nat-m. gedacht werden.

Cocc-c.: Mucous membranes of throat, respiratory tract and urinary organs are mostly affected by this remedy. It produces a catarrhal condition and irritation in these sites. This remedy is well indicated

in violent paroxysmal cough ending in vomiting or raising much clear ropy mucus.

Gels.: Fieber nach Frost, der den Rücken hochkriecht, Völlegefühl im Kopf; Hitze des Gesichts, Pulsieren der Arterien im Nacken, heiße trockene Hände, das Gefühl von Schläfrigkeit und Benommenheit.

Weniger ruhelos als Acon. abklingt oft ohne Schweiß und kommt dann wieder. Die Frostigkeit wird oft von einem profusen Harnfluss begleitet, der den Kopf erleichtert. Gleichzeitig kommt es zu Niesen, einem Völlegefühl an der Nasenwurzel und einer klaren, wässrigen Absonderung aus Nase und Augen.

Ars.: Wenn die Nasenabsonderung dünn und wundmachend ist + einem heißen, brennenden Gefühl in Nase und Augen. Zusätzlich noch brennender Durst, eine rote Zunge, Kopfschmerzen, Schlaflosigkeit, Ängstlichkeit und Erschöpfung. vorhanden, und alle diese Symptome > Wärme. Best für den „grippalen Infekt“, der mit großer Erschöpfung und fließenden, wund machenden, dünnen Absonderungen aus Nase und Augen einhergeht. Onset of illness middle of the night (1 - 2 h. May wake with chills, diarrhoea or vomiting at this time. She is often anxious, may fear that he/she is seriously ill and demands company. Chilly and wants hot water. Very restless.

Merc.: gewöhnlichen Erkältungen mit reichlichem Fluss von serösem Schleim aus der Nase (geschwollen und gerötet); übelriechendes Nasensekret; schwerer Stirnkopfschmerz; Schwerhörigkeit; Nachtschweiße mit febrilem Frost und Hitze; Knochenschmerzen; Trübsinn und Verlangen nach Einsamkeit; alle Symptome werden sowohl durch Hitze als auch durch Kälte verstärkt.

Hep.: Wenn Mercurius angezeigt ist, aber keine Reaktion hervorruft, oder wenn der Patient schon zu viel davon gehabt hat; wenn jeder Hauch von kalter Luft einen neuen Frost o. Kopfschmerz hervorruft,

nur ein Nasenloch betroffen ist und der Kopfschmerz < Bewegung.

All-c.: (aus der roten Zwiebel): Fließschnupfen; Engegefühl an der Nasenwurzel; permanentes Niesen; Rückenschmerz, und Frost; Melancholie, ängstlich, ruhelos. < im Zimmer; >: im Freien.

Puls.: Absonderung von gelb-grünem übelriechendem Schleim aus der Nase; Verlust von Appetit und Geschmackssinn; schwerer und eingenommener Kopf (abends/im warmen Zimmer) mit verstopfte Nase; kein Durst; Weinerlichkeit; Frostigkeit den ganzen Abend lang; > an der frischen Luft.

Nux-v.: die Erkältung „trocken“ und die Nase verstopft; die Nase kann auch morgens trocken und abends fließend sein. Die Stirn fühlt sich schwer an.

Eine ärgerliche, streitsüchtige Stimmung ist charakteristisch. <: morgens/geistige Anstrengung/nach dem Ruhen/nach dem Abendessen/Bewegung/leichte Berührung/an der frischen Luft (Gegensatz zu Puls.

in vielen Punkten)/bei trockenem Wetter. It doesn’t matter how many blankets you’ve got around you, you still feel shivery when you move.

Sang.: o. Sangin-n.: Reichlicher Fließschnupfen o. trockener Schnupfen, mit stetigem Niesen; dumpfer, heftiger Schmerz an der Nasenwurzel; Geruch von gerösteten Zwiebeln in der Nase; Trockene Lippen; Zunge „Wie verbrannt“; Rachen geschwollen und zusammengeschnürt; scharfe Stiche in der Brust; niedergeschlagen und reizbar. < Morgens und abends/Licht und Bewegung.

Nat-m.: Fließschnupfen bei frostigen Personen; Frost entlang des Rückens; großer Durst; Bläschen auf den Lippen oder Neigung, selbige zu entwickeln; Verstopfung;

Druck in der Stirn beim Aufstehen morgens; Traurig/niedergeschlagen/weinerlich. < morgens/periodisch.

Kali-i.: Reichliche, wässrige Absonderungen aus Augen und Nase; Ansammlung von dickem, zähem Schleim in der Nase; Absonderung von grünlich-schwarzer o. gelber Substanz von faulem Geruch; Nasenbluten; Absonderung von zersetztem grünlich-rotem Blut. Gefühl von Völle und Spannung an der Nasenwurzel; Schwellung und Rötung der Nase;

Völlegefühl in der Nase; mit klopfenden Schmerzen in den Nasenknochen; Pochen und Brennen in den Nasen- und Stirnknochen mit Schwellung; nach Merkurmissbrauch.

<: nachts/in kalter Luft/in der Ruhe; > Bewegung.

Phos.: Cold can quickly go to the chest. There is a strong desire for large quantities of cold or iced drinks, and the person wants company.

Alum.: Efficacy in case of old people who take cold from the least exposure to a draft of cold air. Such patients are frequently afflicted with obstinate constipation.

Calc.: Leucophlegmatic temperament, who are liable to take cold at every change in the weather. Especially indicated in case of teething children, who are subject to colds in the head, attended by oppressed breathing. Infants who do not assimilate their food well, and have swelling of the glands of the neck; adults who suffer much from cold, damp feet.

Nux-v.: Useful in overcoming extreme susceptibility to cold in persons who are subject to frontal headaches and attacks of vertigo, occasioned by deranged stomach. Catarrhal attacks are fluent during the day and dry at night; < in the morning, and constipation. Always useful where the patient has taken freely of so-called tonics, or has employed drastic medicines.

Puls.: A mild disposition and phlegmatic constitution. Prophylactic of taking cold where the catarrhal attacks + pronounced derangement of the digestive functions; also when the eyes and ears are prominently affected.

Sulph.: An unhealthy condition of the skin (rough, cracking or a scaling of the cuticle, chilblains, nettle-rash); often an herpetic saddle across the nose, or complains of a congested condition of the nose, with a tendency to bleed.
